Mark Frederick Seidl, age 73, passed away peacefully July, 17th 2024. Born and raised on the east side of St. Paul, Mark’s life was filled with dedication, love and passion. Loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend to many.
Mark met his loving wife of 40 years, Vicki, while both were working at the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Their love story mirrored that of Mark’s late parents, Lee and Eddie Seidl, who also met and married while working at the same place. Vicki and Mark’s bond was unbreakable, a source of strength and inspiration for all who knew them.
Family was the cornerstone of Mark’s life. He cherished his devoted son, Jake and his daughter in-law, Jessica. His greatest joy in recent years was his grandson, Jackson Jacob, affectionately known as JJ, who brought boundless happiness to his life. Mark is also survived by his two brothers, Jim & Steve, who shared many fond memories and adventures with him.
In addition to his career at the Pioneer Press, Mark dedicated over 30 years to Slumberland. Sports fanatic, especially golf and Minnesota Sports teams, Mark’s passion for hockey was a lifelong pursuit. From playing at the Phalen Youth Club and Johnson High School to coaching his son’s hockey team at Centennial, participating in Old Timers League, and cheering on professional teams, hockey was always close to his heart.
Mark’s love for family vacations at Crosslake, trips to Mexico, and gatherings with lifelong friends were among his most cherished activities. His legendary memory and unparalleled sense of humor were hallmarks of his upbeat personality, endearing him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Mark suffered a severe stroke one morning just one day before his 67th birthday. He prevailed for more than 6 years before letting go of his earthly bonds, just long enough to watch his son get married and welcome his first grandchild Jackson into the world. The family extends a special thanks to the dedicated and loving friends who visited and supported Mark during these challenging times.
Vicki, Jake, Jess & JJ invite friends & family to a celebration of Mark’s life at the clubhouse of the TPC Twin Cities on Tuesday, July 30th from 5pm-8pm. Drinks and appetizers will be provided.
