Michael Steven Aamoth

Michael Steven Aamoth, 67, passed away unexpectedly on December 3rd, 2021 at his home in Arden Hills. Mike was a talented oboe player and instructor and founded Midwest Musical Imports at his home in 1983. Mike grew this business into one of the leading single and double reed importers in the country. Mike played professionally for many years and was a music educator for his entire adult life. This experience created a warm and welcoming environment at Midwest Musical Imports for clients of all ages from across the country and the world. Mike's employees will continue to honor his commitment to music and the community he loved. Mike was born in Springfield, Minnesota and moved to Arden Hills at age 11. He was a graduate of Mounds View High School and the University of Minnesota and also attended the Manhattan School of Music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ione Aamoth and is survived by his sister Carol Spiczka and her husband Dean, of Mounds View. In addition to his employees and customers, Mike had a passion for social and environmental justice and many non-profit organizations serving these areas were beneficiaries of his generosity. Mike's sense of humor, quick wit and intellect will be missed by his many friends, employees, clients and extended family.
