Violet Irene Rausch, age 90, died peacefully in her home on February 6, 2025 from cancer. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, Norman; parents, Otto and Irene Weickert; brother, Marlan and sister-in-law Jeanette Weickert and brother-in-law Dean Hetland. Violet was born in July of 1934 to Otto and Irene Weickert on the family farm in Bertha Township, MN. She married Norman Rausch on November 5, 1954 and became mother to five children between 1955-1966. She will be missed by daughters Karen Rausch of Memphis, TN; Dianne (Steve) Lofgren of Coon Rapids, MN; Nancy Rausch of Orlando, FL; Beth Sandberg of Fridley, MN; and Gail (Ryan) Ness of Mounds View, MN; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; her dear sister, Beverly Hetland, of Eagle Bend, MN; caring nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. She helped run the Rausch family farm in Bertha Township prior to a move to Minneapolis where her husband took a job with Soo Line Railroad. They built a home together in Fridley in 1961, when the area was a new development. She took great pride in her roles of stay-at-home wife and mother and was a dedicated homemaker for many years. Once her daughters were grown, she accepted employment with Process Displays production company in New Hope where she worked until retirement. She enjoyed being a part of the bowling team with her co-workers and was a long-time member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Mounds View. She enjoyed summers camping with family on her brother's lake property near Alexandria, MN. Violet became a sports fan later in life and looked forward to watching televised games each week, especially Vikings and KC Chiefs football. She was skilled at cooking, baking, and had an enviable green thumb. She often spoke of her appreciation for the dedicated daughters who cared for her and wonderful neighbors who watched out for each other and kept her company after Norman's passing. Her final request was to stay in the home where she had her best memories until her death. Fortunately, her daughters were able to grant that request. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Messiah Lutheran Church Columbarium, Mounds View, MN where a Celebration of Life will take place in Spring 2025.
